Come Pick Peaches!

August 7, 2015 Katrina McAlexander

As a farmer there are so many factors that our of your control.  One of the things that has been a challenge this year is we had about a 10th of our normal cherry crop and we ran out of u-picking in one day.  This was of course really hard on all our many loyal u-pick cherry costumers that come each and every year without fail.  We always hope and pray for an abundant crop but this year our cherry crop was small and we picked 10 boxes instead of over 100. Thank you to everyone who was very understanding about this because this is of course not something we can remedy as farmers. We are grateful for the cherry crop we had and will pray for more next year.

This is not the case for Peaches at all, friends.  We have peaches for days!  Millions of peaches! They are so flavorful, juicy and sweet.  I am so thankful for the abundant crop and the next few weeks is the BEST time for u-picking peaches at Mt. View Orchards. We have over 12 varieties of peaches and most of them are semi cling or cling free.  We have them available for u-picking at 1 dollar a pound, but if you pick 100 pounds or more the price drops to 75cents a pound.  Unbeatable prices and quality friends, that is a core value of our farm.  Come out this weekend!

Last night I was dropping off 10 boxes of peaches for various restaurants and one particular restaurant was down to their very last Mt. View Orchard's peach and immediately grabbed the box of peaches I had brought in and began slicing them to place on a pizza.  I was given the title of, "The Peach Whisperer."  That totally made my day.  I am so farmer proud of our peaches this year and I want to personally invite you all out to our small family farm to enjoy our peaches.  Hope to see you all these next few weeks.  Peaches of course do not grow well in every region so they are a gift to us locals and they are easy picking.  xoxo your grateful farmer.

Honeycrisp apples are a favorite @mtvieworchards and today we are going to be sharing some forward with our local food bank. Apples are extremely rich in important antioxidants, flavanoids, and dietary fiber. The phytonutrients and antioxidants in apples may help reduce the risk of developing cancer, hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease. @mtvieworchards we believe everyone deserves to enjoy the best of our 2018 local apple harvests. We have them in our farm stand as well if you want to pick some up for your lunches. #mtvieworchards #afarmthatcares #afarmthatgathers #afarmthatgivesback #apples #honeycrisps
