I am still blown away that I was able to take these magical morning and evening pictures in my back yard, Mt. View Orchards. These pictures remind me of last winter when I lived in NE Portland my sweet neighbors(Darcell and Aasha) invited me to see the musical, Fiddler on the Roof. I wholeheartedly accepted because "Fiddler on the Roof," is of course one of my absolute favorite musicals. I found myself delighting in every song and dance with all my heart. During the song, "Sunrise, Sunset," I was so very emotional and felt so grateful for my amazing parents and my beautiful childhood on the farm in Parkdale, Oregon. The Sabbath prayer that Tevye and Golde sing over their 5 daughters is so filled with such protection, love and hope for their daughters futures and this song split my heart open. Here is the prayer below...
"May the Lord protect and defend you.
May He always shield you from shame.
May you come to be
In Israel a shining name.
May you be like Ruth and like Esther.
May you be deserving of praise.
Strengthen them, Oh Lord,
And keep them from the strangers' ways.
May God bless you and grant you long lives.
(May the Lord fulfill our Sabbath prayer for you.)
May God make you good mothers and wives.
(May He send you husbands who will care for you.)
May the Lord protect and defend you.
May the Lord preserve you from pain.
Favor them, Oh Lord, with happiness and peace.
Oh, hear our Sabbath prayer. Amen.
This week my heart has been overflowing with thanksgiving watching my two amazing parents in their 70's lovingly help me get our first organic sulfer spray on our small family farm as I headed to the clinic. My mom has been racking, cutting brush and pouring her whole heart into caring for our land. They both refuse to take any form of payment and tell me they just want me to succeed so badly that they will work for free. This kind of love blows me away and makes me feel so very backed!! I hit the jackpot in parents and I am indeed a grateful farmer.
