This month at Mt. View Orchards we have been full of thanks and full of giving. Over this past season we have been honored to be asked to support over 48 different non-profit in our region that share our apples and pears forward. This is one of our core values on our small family farm. We love sharing our abundance and helping our community, one apple at a time. Taking a bite out of hunger and making sure that those who have less get to enjoy fresh fruit and produce is really important and a vital part of our work. We still have plenty of apples here up on the farm and have had quite a few people come up this weekend to get some pears and apples to decorate their Thanksgiving table and or for apple pies. A beautiful red anjou pear looks so very pretty on a plate, used as a name tag.
This year I am thankful for all the many people who chose to come to our farm and buy directly from the farmer. Thank you all for befriending our farm. I am thankful to God for our beautiful and abundant clean crop of cherries, peaches, prunes, nectarines, apples and pears. I am thankful for our community and how it rallies for everyone to always have enough to eat. I am grateful for the farming community that has been so available to offer me advise and support in my transition of buying my families farm and carrying on the tradition. Thank you to everyone who has been following along on my journey farming here at Mt. View Orchards. I took a small break from blogging because I needed to catch my breath after a really long harvest. Thanks for joining me again. xoxo your grateful farmer.
