Grateful Holiday Specials +Deals

Good News, Yappy/Happy Hour is back at Grateful. Every Monday through Friday in the afternoons from 3-5pm bring your best friends over for $1 off sips and enjoy our heated patio with a fire place by every table or our vineyard meadow. We make small craft beer, wine, cider, hard seltzer and draft root beer here at Grateful. We love being a gathering place for all our grateful friends. Cheers from our family to yours.

We are wholeheartedly welcoming the colder and nostalgic months at Grateful. Today we are thrilled to offer our NEW mid-week libation specials (*onsite only*) with Tasting appointment Reservations. Gentle Reminder our Tasting Room and outside heated patio is for all guests 21 years old and better.

**Mondays and Tuesdays any flight of our beer, cider or wine paired with our Seasonal Detroit Deep Dish Pie $35 ** (note: our deep dish pie is also available as a part our 3 flight pairing as well on these afternoons $45/person)

**Wine Down Wednesdays: Enjoy any bottle of wine and receive one on the house (of equal or lesser value) ** Buy a bottle of Sparkling Rose’ and receive one from us. ( or add our seasonal food pairings) We also have Ryan Dungan playing this Wednesday afternoon from 4-6pm so make a reservation to join us for some live music inside Grateful. (Side Note: Megan Alder and friends playing this coming Sunday from 4-6pm so join us with reservations for that as well.) The Best Apples/Pears for Long Storage

Are you wondering What are the best apple or pears for long storage? Let me help you plan ahead so you can enjoy our harvests year round.

When you’ve got a bounty of beautiful apples and pears with many to spare, you’ll want to store them smartly! Perhaps you’re saving apples to bake a pie, make jellies and jams or to simply enjoy down the road. Although all apples and pears can be stored, be aware that some apples and pears do store better than others.

The best apples for storing are hardy varieties that hold up well over time, like Fugi and Granny Smith. The best pears for keeping are the Anjou (green and red), comice and bosc. At Mt View Orchards we all of these varieties in our farm stand in ample quantities so stop by soon to stock up for the holidays and beyond, Many of these varieties will keep into spring.

General apple storage tips include:

• Store unwashed apples and pears in the coldest part of your refrigerator.

• For best results, keep your refrigerator at 33 to 35 degrees F with some humidity to reduce shriveling.

• Sort through your apples/pears often and remove any damaged ones to use for juice or sauce. One bad apple can spoil the bunch!

• Don’t store apples/pears with strong-smelling foods like onions and garlic. Fruit can easily take on the odor of those foods.

• You’ll also want to keep apples/pears away from potatoes as they release a gas as they age which causes fruit to spoil.

• To store an entire box of apples/pears, consider a second refrigerator or keep the box in a cool, dark place. Wrapping each apple in paper will provide additional protection and delay ripening.

I love snacking on our Fugis and Anjou pears in March of the next year because they taste better than anything you can find in the big box stores and remain crisp. Currently We are open daily 10-5pm and though most of apples have been picked in the upick fields we have plenty in the farm stand at affordable pricing. We have ample upick pears left + have them already picked as well so come by today and stock up for the winter.

Fridays on the Farm

Though there is some rain slated this week we have had quite a few dry periods through out the day and its a really lovely time to come visit us because the orchard trees are changing colors into rich burgundies, golds, vibrant orange and bright yellows. We need rain to grow food so we celebrate it here and are grateful in every season. We just brought out another fresh bin of honeycrips, fugis, sonatas, galas, granny smiths, cox orange pippins, goldens and plenty of comice, bartlett’s, anjous and seckels for our farm stand. We have fresh pressed apple cider and cider donuts on the weekends. Our tasting room is still open 12-6pm on weekends and from 3-6pm by reservations mid week. Our libations and slices are available as well with no reservation under our tented picnic areas from 12-6pm. Its magical time to visit the farm so join us today.

Though our apple and plum trees have been heavily picked we still have lots of pears and quince. So join us daily from 10-5pm and stock up for the holidays.
