Join us at the Grateful Garden
Good news, starting this weekend (3/27/21) we are launching the Grateful Garden on the farm. This was inspired by our Swiss-German roots and me falling hard for some lively Beer gardens when visiting relatives in our motherland after college for the summer. I have so many warm memories of my Swiss grandparents tradition of sipping outdoors in the afternoons together while we played in the grass nearby after a day of farming. We love creating our outdoor picnic area for our guests (all ages and friendly/quiet pups on a leash welcome) to come enjoy our house made Beer, Wine and Cider (along with limited food pairings/slices of pie) The Grateful Garden is east of our tasting room building in our vineyard Meadow next to our acre of tulips (coming soon) and in the later summer- field of sunflowers.
All of our picnic tables are socially distanced and spread out through out our spring time green grass. There is no need to make a reservation at the Grateful Garden and it is open on warm Weekends. It is first come first serve on table availability and you are welcome to bring you own camping chairs as well and blankets.
in the Garden we will be serving on tap our Mt View Brewing IPA (7.1 ABV) and our Strong Pale (5.5%). We will be serving a variety of seasonal hard ciders (5.5%) and our Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris or Rose (13%) by the Bottle or by the glass(21+ or better). We will have some light food pairing and pizza by the slice as well. Eventually we will have our fresh fruit gelato as well when it is warmer. ( N/A beverages too). Hiring enough team members at Grateful has been a huge focus of ours these past few last few weeks and we now have enough hosts/hostesses to cover our new Beer Garden area beside our Tasting room so everyone can be refreshed on the farm. Thank you for being patient with us as hiring new team members has been a challenge in our entire valley.
To enjoy our full menu of libations and food pairings, including individual flights of our beer, wine and cider you will need to make an online reservation. We have table availability both inside and outside and this is a very unique and desirable experience you need to enjoy as well. Making a reservation is quite easy but weekends fill up quickly so you need to plan a week or two in advance for this option. Our team offers you a warm hospitality feast that you all must experience soon so make a reservation today. If you are a wine club member and you want to enjoy all your benefits you will need to make a reservation for all your discounts. Make a reservation online or call 541.399.6665 to check on same day/evening availability. Sometimes we have walk in availability so give us as call and verify and we will save you a table. We are open for reservations Monday to Friday 4-7pm and Weekends 12-7pm
If you are in a spontaneous mood though and do not have a reservation on the weekend. No problem, we have created the Grateful Garden for you and your pod to come relax at our vineyard. (Side note: The Garden is Open weekends only for now but we will expand days in summer time and on nights we have musical guests. We are not able to start live music at our winery until it is consistently warm outside because our musical stage is uncovered/outdoors) (Ask about joining our wine club for other VIP events with Live Music through out the year.)
Did you know this is our very first Spring that we can be fully open to our guests at the Grateful Vineyard? Last year in March 2020, we quickly had to shift gears to a state mandated “take out only” and tried to offer affordable specials every evening to nourish our community. Thank you again for backing us up during this challenging season in our first year. We really missed your faces, hugs and serving you at our tasting room last spring. Spring at the Grateful Vineyard really is dreamy and I am so excited for you to get to enjoy the seasonality of our farm this year. I feel thankful that we are coming into our “True identity” as a Tasting Room at the base of Mt Hood this spring. We are thrilled to get to host you all again inside and out every season and love watching all the signs of spring slowly emerging all over the ground and the fruit blossoms popping in the orchard.
Thank you again for being gracious with us this past year as we were in our first year during a really intense season for hospitality. I care so deeply about my amazing dream team here at grateful and it has been our highest goal to keep our guests safe and sound here during the pandemic. Thankfully, We have had zero covid cases in our team and no covid cases traced back to our small family farm by some miracle/and all the bleaching all year long. I am beyond thankful for our good health and attentive sanitary practices. I want to personally thank all our guests for following our state mandated covid guidelines this spring as well because we are 100% committed to keeping everyone safe here at Grateful.
Last Spring our focus was 100% on take out options by governor order but this spring we can be completely open both inside and out again. We are thrilled to offer you all our restorative hospitality experience here again at Grateful. (Note: we are no longer offering take out for our food pairings by the phone or online. We believe there is something magical about enjoying our farm to table libations and feasting on the farm where the fruit was harvested and fermented. This is a one of a kind experience that needs to be enjoyed here at our vineyard. Our head chef, Ryan McAlexander has put a lot of mindfulness into our farm to table food pairings and they are best served fresh and hot here at Grateful)
We love our community and want to warmly invite you to come enjoy our libations in our Garden this weekend. We created a special place for you all to come an be restored/nourished here. You are welcome to come and sip away the afternoon with us this weekend in the sunshine for some self care and kindness. Hope to see you soon at the Grateful Garden.

Mt View Brewing’ 1st Birthday
I am thrilled to announce that our little baby micro brewery- Mt View Brewing is turning one year old on Saturday 20th, 2021. Guys, somehow by a miracle of God and the fierce love of our neighbors, we made it to our first birthday in the middle of a global pandemic (Tears of joy). Surviving as a small business owner/farmer feels like an epic milestone and I want to personally invite you all to come out from 1-4pm to celebrate our brewery dream triumphing on the farm this Saturday 3/20 from 1-4pm.
Join us underneath our covered wooden pavilion (note: this event is being held at our event space, entrance 6600 Trout Creek Ridge Rd, 97041) to enjoy a pint of a fresh new batch of our very first beer we brewed here—Calibration pale ale. Also come to meet our incredible local brewer Chris Vincenzo. Plan on enjoying music from 1:30-3:30 from our talented neighbor Ben Saur (who’s also an amazing local farmer) singing us some celebratory melodies. Guests 21 years old and better are welcomed to attend this socially distanced birthday (no entrance fee), masks are required when not seated in our covered pavilion with your libation. We got you covered rain or shine but please dress warmly at this is an covered outdoor event. There is ample parking by the event site at 6600 Trout Creek Ridge Rd, 97041-note this is a different entrance/address than our Tasting Room.)
Ryan, our head chef (and my hermanito) will be serving Grateful Vineyard pizza by the slice and aside from our Calibration pale ale we will also have our Irish Red Ale on tap, 2 different Golden Row ciders and our Grateful Vineyard Pinot Noir/Pinot Gris by the glass (ID required)
I am very excited for this event and opportunity to have you all meet Chris Vincenzo, our brewmaster and cider maker at this birthday celebration. Chris started brewing our first beer, the Calibration Ale in early March of 2020 but—plot twist—instead of celebrating with our “Carlos The Steer’ 21st Birthday-New Brewery Release Party we had to pivot quickly to take out only during quarantine. That meant growlers and crowler cans only of our new beers to go because of the new restrictions at the time. We quickly ordered a canning machine and brought growlers/growlette because the covid laws stated we couldn’t use home to go containers. We rallied hard and you guys showed up for us night after night. It was a classic underdog story- Rocky Balboa triumphing against all odds.
Personally this was an equally exciting and intense time because in order to build our baby farm-to-table brewery (Thank you Todd/Team at Gorge Design Build) it took every last dime I had saved and of course some help from Columbia State Bank with a brewery loan (Thank you Craig and Vern). This little brewery dream of mine literally stretched me more financially( + emotionally) than I have ever been in my life as a farmer and I questioned the timing of this building project nearly every minute in the spring time. I literally worked every single day on the farm and every afternoon in the tasting room till dark trying to keep this dream alive and nourished. It feels like a huge miracle to me now that we stayed afloat during this epically challenging year and I feel quite lucky because I know other breweries and small businesses tragically did not make it.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every one of you who came and bought our beer to go and for backing us up so fiercely during our brewery’s incredibly nerve-racking 1st year. I want to thank my tiny team who showed up every afternoon and tried to keep our tasting room alive with our take out specials (Anastasia, Ryan, Jim, Kit, Chris, Yesenia and my amazing parents). I still believe that farm dreams do come true but it can take all of your determination and an incredibly supportive community to make your dreams fly.
Lastly, We also had our very first Mt Hood Libation Club Pick up last year the weekend of March 20-22nd, 2020. So in the same tradition we are having our March 2021 Pick up party at this event as well from 1-4pm March 20th, 2021 at our Event Space (Note separate entrance than tasting room) The Mt Hood Libation Club is our one of a kind- Beer, Wine and Cider Club at Grateful. Good news, We also have a Grateful Wine only club with numerous benefits and 4 pick up parties a year. Reach out to learn more about being apart of our exclusive club (see my last blog post for more details and email: thegratefulfarmer@gmail.com to join this unique beer, wine and cider club or wine only club.
A wholehearted thank you for supporting our brewery this past year. Hope to see you at Mt. View Brewing’s 1st birthday party this Saturday March 20th, 1-4pm at our Event Space or stop by to take some cans to go because you believe in what we are doing here weaving together farming, fermentation and hospitality at Grateful. Our birthday beer will also be on tap at Grateful this week to plan on ordering a pint if you have a reservation or take some home a growler to go.
